G’day, I’m Sasha. A writer, director and filmmaker based in the land down under, Naarm/Melbourne Australia.
I'm the founder and creative director at Nazza Wazza, an independent narrative-driven film production, television and distribution company. Fancy titles aside, I'm much more than that; I’m someone you can call a mate! Feel free to scroll down and see what sets me apart from the rest.
Still from my first super 8 film, shot on Kodak Vision 3 50D 7203 super 8 stock.
For the last 4 years, I’ve been a resident within the creative industry. Specialising within the narrative, commercial, branded content and documentary space.
As a filmmaker and creative professional, I've had the privilege of creating impactful stories that resonate closely with BIPOC audiences. I take initiative to create intimate, close examinations of the human experience, exploring stories where truth and experience meet trauma and familial ties.
Sasha is currently adapting his 2022 proof-of-concept documentary into a short documentary production titled, Teach Me How To Cry. Alongside this, he is working on his next major short film, Bābā (爸爸).

Before pursuing filmmaking, I started off in the world of photography.
Although primarily working in the film industry, I continue to immerse myself in and practice photography as an art form, both through personal projects and client work. Starting as a photographer before fully pursuing film allowed me to improve fundamental skills such as storytelling and composition early on. Grasping these concepts within photography enabled me to apply them in filmmaking and enhance my storytelling abilities overall.

A small glimpse into my Philosophy.
“As humans, I believe storytelling is inherently ingrained in us, It’s such a collaborative art form. In times past, we gathered around campfires to share stories. Today, in the modern era, through moving image-picture film and photography, I’m able to express stories that matter to me, artfully weaving subtext, mood, and emotion into my bodies of work.”

In 2022 and 2023 I received the DUX for unit 1/2 & unit 3/4 media respectively.
I was able to direct and produce a short documentary about my grandmother and her subsequent struggles with immigration and racism in Australia. You can watch ‘Australia a new home - An Immigration Story’ here.
In 2021 I received the DUX for Year 10 Film.
I’ve applied my narrative short film ‘Maybe, I’m Not Okay’ into the VCE season of excellence for 2024 within Top Screens which, it has been shortlisted into.
I’ve been given the luxury of meeting so many likeminded and talented creatives both within my time in high school but also now going into the industry and tertiary level study at university. These filmmakers and creatives inspire me to better myself and my craft everyday.
In 2023 Nazza Wazza, produced and distributed their first narrative short film ‘Maybe, I’m Not Okay’. Watch ‘Maybe, I’m Not Okay’ here.
